Mataro – aka Mourvédre – is a natural for Rosé. Blessed with both tannin and acidity, fruit and spice, it works brilliantly here. Offers the lightest of blushes. Aromas rise and rise in dusty wild strawberry, raspberry, cherries – summer bright – with earth. Boasts a lovely delicacy – this is the opposite of strident and loud – employing Mataro’s naturally gentle spiciness, a touch of confection, a hint of pepper and garrigue laid out against the summeriest of berry fruits. Brings a nice textural element across the palate finishing crisp and super fresh. Doesn’t mind a good chill, either, and is pretty versatile whether enjoying a glass or enjoying with food.
