Hare’s Chase The Springer Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021

Share

Plenty to get your teeth stuck into both literally and figuratively. This is a good, solid Barossa Shiraz from a top year, chock full in so much flavour you could almost carve it (well, almost). Layer upon layer of fruit – blackberry, black cherry – and spice – aniseed, clove, cinnamon – and dark chocolate, turned earth, and what’s more, it is nicely weighted and well-proportioned throughout. Oak brings a toasted cedary quality to the wine, which can’t be ignored, but which works in well with the overall generosity of flavour. Just add lamb and you will be on a real winner of a food-wine match.
