Head Wines Ancestor Vine Grenache 2019

Share

There are not many 162-year-old vineyards still turning out wines like this. It’s located in the driest and coldest corner of the Eden Valley too, which makes its survival all the more extraordinary and gives this wine a very different take from the usual Barossan Grenache.

It embodies the concept of grenache as the Barossan version of pinot noir – radiating purity and perfume. Pristine and concentrated cranberry and raspberry fruits drive the aromatics with pretty floral, meat and spice adding plenty of personality and interest. The palate is equally subtle – fragrant fruits underscored by supple and fine-grained tannins that drive a long and fine finish. A grenache with plenty of appeal for fans of pinot noir.
