Henschke Croft Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2018

One of the signs of a great winery is their ability to craft quality wines in challenging years. It is not easy and Mother Nature can throw down plenty of curveballs. Here is an example of how Henschke generally get it right when the odds are stacked against them.

The hot 2018 vintage was tough for elegant white wines so this is a triumph with its restrained and understated style. There are pretty citrus and floral aromas that are well matched to subtle oak with some attractive struck match and barrel ferment complexity. The palate is then savoury – cashew, citrus and nectarine flavours are underscored by balanced acidity in a zesty style with good length. This is a well composed Adelaide Hills Chardonnay that is hard to fault.
