Henschke Johann’s Garden Grenache Mataro 2022

Share

These two varieties from the Barossa Valley are vinified separately before spending ten months in older French oak hogsheads. The final bottling consists of 79% Grenache and 21% Mataro. A lovely mauve hue, the nose provides notes of dry herbs and red fruits, cranberries, spices, bay leaves and raspberries with good focus and direction. The tannins are a mix of the silky and the ever-so-slightly grainy. With impressive balance and length to finish, I like this a lot. Enjoy over the next eight years.
