Sourced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon planted in the late 1970s at Lightpass in the Barossa Valley. Matured for 20 months in 10% new and 90% seasoned French oak hogsheads prior to blending and bottling. This is a poised and elegant expression of Barossa Cabernet, showing restraint and quiet complexity from the outset. Mulberry, bay leaf and mulch lead the nose, followed by graphite, black olive, ripe plum and smoky cedar. With air, the wine deepens—earth, dried herbs, mocha and a flicker of mint all emerge in measured, seamless turns. It’s a wine that builds thoughtfully with time in the glass. The palate is medium to full bodied with a grainy texture wrapping around dark fruits—plum, black cherry and blackcurrant—layered with olive tapenade, graphite and earthy nuance. Tannins are firm yet beautifully integrated, offering structure without intrusion, and drawing the wine through a long, composed finish. A complex composed and quietly powerful Cabernet that affirms the variety’s place in the Barossa.
