Henschke Tappa Pass Shiraz 2019

Share

A blend of Barossa and Eden Valley Shiraz, Tappa Pass is generally the more approachable of Henschke’s premium reds, and 2019 is no exception. Bright deep ruby in colour, it’s dense and concentrated with sweet blackberry and kitsch aromas although retaining Eden Valley style thanks to a vein of white pepper and bay leaf, a little new oak just sneaking in behind. It’s then voluptuous in the mouth while retaining its shape, with a rich core of chocolately, dark fruits plus a subtle sideline of earth and spice. There is impressive upfront fruit impact before firms tannins take over to drive a long, generous finish. Super now, but this wine also has plenty of time on its hands.
