It’s a savoury affair from the outset, and in the best way possible. Sauteed mushroom and sous-bois (forest floor, snapped twigs, earth) hover above an emergent core of dark cherry fruit. There are flickers of dried herbs with air. Overall a lovely velveteen earthy feel. On the palate, it’s intense but cool, lifted and buoyant. Dark cherry melds with button mushroom, earth, forest floor, delicate woodsmoke. The texture is svelte and flowing. Tannins are ultra fine but also firm and framing as the wine carries to long, poised and graceful length with latent licks of acidity tugging it longer and longer. Another classy and understated release from Heroes, of eminent charm and restraint. It whispers loud. Excellent.
