Hewitson Truffle Row Carignan Syrah Cinsault 2022

Share

Not your usual Barossa blend with these southern French varieties, including 45% Carignan, 34% Syrah (Shiraz) and 21% Cinsault. Named after the row of hazelnut bushes at the Hewitson winery that have had their roots infused with spores of black truffle. Apparently, Hewitson are yet to recoup on their investment! Anyways, the wine is shiny and darkly herbed, almost suave. Cola nut, licorice, Fruits of the Forest, vanilla and meaty roasting pan juices. Smooth with almost “bbq chip” savoury meatiness, overlaid with green peppercorn and licorice. Fine tannins for a pleasant grippy rumble with a steeliness through the tail. A match for beef (or mushroom) Wellington.
