Hoffmann Dallwitz Block Zinfandel 2018

This is a single-vineyard in all its glory. It is a remarkable expression of place and winemaking intent. Inspired by Californian techniques, it spends four years in new American oak followed by a year in bottle prior to release. I had the rare pleasure of experiencing its evolution alongside Malaysian cuisine . Its red-marron, translucent hue is captivating from the outset. The bouquet is complex and spiced, with ripe plum, confit notes, and a touch of caramel. Paired with sweet chilli duck, bok choy, and mushrooms, it reveals a generous, silky mouthfeel. The tannins are beautifully integrated, and the fruit concentration displays purity and finesse. Its rolling, juicy texture and subtle acidity make each sip a delight. An outstanding wine with personality, power, and charm. Best enjoyed now or over the next decade. Only 1,600 bottles produced.
