The last Juniper Wilyabrup Vineyard Chardonnay I looked at was the 2023 vintage, and I wrote a lot about acid. This 2025 has similar DNA, but it’s packed on a few pounds around the middle. Lemon balm, rolled oats, and wet wool. It’s indulgent. Fuller. In the mouth, it fills all the crevices pleasantly. The density and wildness are dialled up, the phenolics almost chewy, and the acid well managed. Preserved fruit, spice and key lime pie carry through to a long, sustained finish. With a sleek new look and a shit tonne of accolades, Juniper Estate is in an exciting era. This wine won’t get better with cellaring, but it’s delicious right now, so chew on it in all its glory. Maybe order some chicken tenders.
