Kerri Greens Mornington Peninsula Messire Chardonnay 2023

One of the more premium offerings from KG, it’s another testament to the great terroir of the vineyard and the deft hand and head of winemaker Lucas Blanck. There’s a real mélange of aromas on show here, from the citrus tones of grapefruit and lemon, the fruity complexity of apricot and nectarine, and the savoury notes of straw, brine, cucumber, white pepper and a touch of creaminess, with a touch of nuttiness starting to come through. The fruit is ultra-bright on the palate, the oak adding some more dimension, heightened by rich flavours and a salty character that I love. It has the legs to see it develop well for the next decade.
