The regional stamp of cut-lime fruit – intense cordial-like and zesty – runs strong in this Riesling. It’s there in the swirl of citrus on the aroma together with citrus blossom and talc. It holds court on the palate, a pivotal focus of the wine, together with a racy acidity that helps drives the wine. Lime juice, lime cordial, fennel and lemon sorbet mingle with apple flavours, full of energy and brio. It moves fast and furious, ideal sans food or bent to the demands of fresh shellfish. The Reserve Mort’s Block may be the producer’s Riesling flagship, but its well-priced junior sibling offers a cracker everyday Riesling experience.
