Kooyong Single Vineyard Block Ferrous Pinot Noir 2020

Share

As the name implies, the soil for this particular vineyard block contains ironstone. It brings a powerful mineral ingredient and brisk drive to the wine. Fermented in large oak with a portion of whole bunches for perfume and structure, the Ferrous then spends another 14 months in French oak. This is similar winemaking to its Pinot siblings, but it seems to better integrate the oak and overall balance. Shows a degree of complexity, too, as it goes about releasing an array of deep-seated red berried fruit, earth and herbal scents with fine tannins playing a supporting role. Brings a touch of complexity and class as well as an individual personality to the glass.
