Warramunda Estate Liv Zak Block One Yarra Valley 2019

Cabernet franc and petit verdot like each other, but generally not quite this much. We are more used to seeing them as team Bordeaux players making red blends with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and malbec. Liv Zak has pulled them from the Bordeaux line and given them their own starring role. Block One’s alluring scent showcases the noted floral aromas of both grapes mixed with black cherry, plum, dried herbs and pepper.

An interplay of varieties ensues on the palate, creating an integrated patchwork of flavours and textural sensations of generous red fruits, briar, wintergreen, pepper, fused with warm woodsy-mocha oak. Petit verdot is noted for its strong tannins and full body. Both come into play to send this wine out into the world.
