The Pecorino grape is on the rise in Australia, convincingly so. Mitolo understands it well, highlighting not only its attractive textural qualities, but introducing a touch of savouriness. The result is a complex wine, singularly expressive and individual. Dusty, citrus aromas mix enticingly with white peach, apple and lifted honeysuckle floral notes. That is the basis for a wine that goes on to explore in greater depth a range of tastes that includes quince, preserved lemon and an almond mealiness and nuttiness throughout, all set against a creamy background. Both complex and refreshing. An exciting addition to the McLaren Vale wine scene.
