Winemaker Mike Farmilo knows the ins and outs of McLaren Vale shiraz as much as anyone, and shows it with this neatly on-point regional statement that’s rich, earthy and chocolatey through its core while burblings of black cherry and dark plum fruit – flesh and skin – curl around its main backbone. Chewy, mouth-coating tannins add structure and still allow the fruit elements to swell in the finish. Everything you’d expect out of the varietal-regional combo.
