Moss Wood Autrement Pinot Noir 2024

Share

The name “Autrement,” meaning “in another way” in French, reflects Moss Wood’s journey in Pinot Noir discovery. This wine is crafted from fruit sourced in the southern Karridale region, 60 kilometers south of Moss Wood’s Wilyabrup base. Moss Wood has a history of exploring pinot noir from different regions, including Pemberton (1991–2003) and Mornington Peninsula (2008–2010). In 2024, a hot season, the southern vineyards performed admirably. The wine is made from three different clones, contributing to its complexity. It displays a bright crimson colour and a nose dominated by primary red fruits such as strawberries and raspberries, with a faint hint of truffle. The palate is structured with a bony thread typical of Pinot Noir, balanced by good fruit density and juiciness. Flavours of red fruits, dried herbs, and truffle create a compelling combination. Enjoyable for early or medium-term drinking, it also has the structure to age gracefully.
