62% comes from the Old Block with a vine age of 55 years. Matured in 30% new French oak. This sings with redcurrant, rhubarb and fig leaf. Some mocha and sandalwood with a briary notes of creeping ivy and salted licorice. The black olive and kirsch feels more potent on the palate with gravelly tannins still propping up the fruit. There is a perky nature to the wine, showing tar and bitumen throughout. Light and dancing on its feet, it is every you hope it might be, for age worthy savoury and scintillating Grampians Shiraz. Drink now or wait another 5 years further.
