To many generations the nifty blend of Shiraz and Pinot Noir might seem like a modern blending twist, but it is in fact a pioneering act of genius by Maurice O’Shea amongst many other acts of wonder. Both varieties are sourced from estate vineyards. This is a gateway wine for the delights of Mount Pleasant red program. Gala apple skin, rosella and red cherries compote. Bay leaf and sumac spice. There are wafts of rose thorn and rusted coin, red clay and nigella seed. Astute tannins peacock from front to back palate with a salted licorice twinge. Acidity pulls the focus of the wine back into its svelte and utterly drinkable shape. This is unlike anything else and a wine for breaking boundaries, the adventure of new beginnings and bringing sexy back. A nice pairing might be gochujang Korean fried chicken. You just never know till you try it, right! Drink now or will cellar well for 10-15 years.
