Ninth Island Pinot Grigio 2024

At $25, most are looking for sound wines true to their varieties. Pear, Golden delicious apple, kumquat and sweet Meyer lemon notes hit the varietal markers here, though there’s an openness and ripeness that pushes toward a Pinot Gris style. The palate is round with ripe pear, yellow apple, nectarine and a glimmer of almond adding bitterness. Good structure here, with some chalky phenolics framing the roundness up nicely through the finish. Concentration is a minor quibble, but at $25 this hits the right notes while sitting on the edge of Pinot Gris style.
