Designed to be enjoyed now, The Muscat family, quite a diverse group of characters, are often used to make Moscato styles – sweet, lightly sparkling and low alcohol. These can vary a lot but the best ones balance bright fruit sweetness with fresh acidity. For the new Petit Moscato, De Bortoli have selected a family member known for its poise and elegance – Muscat Rouge à Petits Grains. So lush! Rose petals and lychees pirouette from the glass. There’s strawberry sherbet and delicate Turkish delight with a twist of lime. It’s sweet but not cloying, with a lovely creamy fizz and fresh acidity.

For a wine that is all about party there’s complexity too – baskets full of strawberries, Persian fairy floss, musk sticks, pink grapefruit and pomegranate seeds that burst on your tongue. At 7% alcohol, this is perfect for slow sipping on hot summer days or perhaps with brunch. Serve it with summer fruit salad filled with red berries, white stone fruit and topped with a dollop of creamy Greek yoghurt.
