Oliver’s Taranga Fiano 2023

Share

Another fine Italian white variety, this time from the Campagna region, which has found a home in McLaren Vale – its tolerance to heat and drought proving pivotal. Fiano is proving so popular that the team at Oliver’s have been forced to plant new vineyards to keep up with demand. I suspect that things will only get worse as the grape is proving ideal for the region. Gleaming pale yellow in colour, there are soft stonefruit notes, hints of fig, herbs, pears, citrus and minerals. There is even a rather pleasing hint of sweet corn, all supported by a gentle flick of acidity and decent length. Attractive now and over the next three to four years.
