Oliver’s Taranga Vermentino 2022

Starts with a sunny fruit entry in subtle shades of citrus and apple. Vermentino never shouts, but is nevertheless highly effective in delivering unadulterated, immediate drinkability. Here it is in a nutshell or, rather, a glass. Lip-smacking lime, grapefruit pith, touch of green apple tartness and almond skin, finishing with a nougat-like roundness, all of which is delivered with good line and length. Here, the driver is a refreshingly zippy acidity. The bitter phenolic finish sometimes associated with the Sardinian grape isn’t immediately apparent but there’s a pleasant hint., just the right amount.
