Ox Hardy Slate Shiraz 2019

Share

There are not many wines around that share the history and unique characters seen in a wine like this. It has been crafted in a very special way – fruit fermented in old slate tanks not used for almost a century – the slate dug in the nearby WIllunga Hills. They don’t often use slate any more in Australia but maybe they should….

The wine is deeply coloured with a powerful core of mulberry, liquorice and violet scented fruits well supported by quality oak. The palate has exceptional density of fruit with waves of flavour supported by a deep backbone of tannins. It is then long, juicy and ethereal with bright fruits lifted by a dusting of Herbes de Provence. A delicious and sophisticated expression of McLaren Vale shiraz that deserves Wagyu beef.
