Pinot Noir from Tasmania and the Yarra Valley, named for Cellar 23 at Magill Estate; matured in French oak barriques (22% new). This is all about the bright, lifted red fruits to begin with — mashed strawberry, raspberry coulis and Bing cherry — but it’s quick to fill out beyond that with lovely red rose and potpourri florals, as well as exotic spice tones that add dimension and character beyond the fruit. The palate is buoyant, cool and red-fruited, sitting high in the mouth with notes of red cherry, cranberry and raspberry supported by brown spice and flickers of red florals. The tannins are ultra-fine but ample in adding a supporting frame through a finish of solid length. This isn’t wildly concentrated, but there’s charm and finesse to enjoy.

Love at first sniff! This young pinot noir blend – Tasmania, Yarra Valley – hits the spot with its nicely toasted gorgeous oak, black cherries, plum, dried raspberries, light spice, sage and thyme aromas. It just resonates an inviting elegance and sets the scene beautifully for what follows. The smart oak presence continues to be a big plus to this wine, an inviting layer of gently nutty, spiced complexity in tune with tightly packed purple fruits, summer berries, red liquorice, cranberry, dried herbs. A brush with fresh acidity lifts, while fine tannins deliver a strong summery feel and gentle textural quality through to the finish. Brings both charm and complexity in equal measure to the glass. 2026 – 2033. 94 Points

The fruit has been sourced from Tasmania and the Yarra Valley. Maturation was in French barriques, 22% new. Bright cherry/crimson in colour, there are intriguing fragrances here, along the lines that only quality Pinot Noir can offer. A briary hint with red fruits, cold tea, leaf litter, plums, spices, truffles, maraschino cherries and animal skins, this is quite a savoury style. There is a silky texture through to abundant powdery tannins. Very good length here and fine balance, this is a mouthwatering style with so much to like. Enjoy over the next eight to ten years. 2026 – 2036. 93 Points

Blend of Tasmania and Yarra Valley fruit. A frisky, vibrant and fruit-forward, albeit still young, Pinot, with plenty of fresh cherries, wild strawberries and red plums, alongside red liquorice, milk chocolate, cranberry juice and a floral hint of rosehip. The palate is a little more subdued than the nose, favouring freshness and fragrance, with the red fruit unfolding gradually. Perhaps the oak is still asserting itself, bringing notes of vanilla bean, cocoa powder, nutmeg and orange zest. A delicate finish with a lingering fruity accent. 2026 – 2032. 92 Points
