Pewsey Vale The Countours Eden Valley Riesling 2014

Share

Made from the single vineyard that is Pewsey Vale and is part of the Hill Smith Family Vineyards. The Contours block of the vineyard received organic status in 2013. Wild ferment. Winemaker is Yalumba’s Chief Louisa Rose.

Medium lemon/straw gold in colour. Hints of development on the nose with some kerosene/plastic aromas. Rich lime flesh, lime/lemon blossom, pineapple granita, wet salt and richer tart crust (almost “Nice” biscuit). Carrying a little roundness and depth from just a hint of residual sugar, the flavour remains intense and long, showing layers of richness with finesse that only quality aged Rieslings can do. The slatey, salty element to the wine still underpins the structure and texture. While it will definitely live for another 10 years, it’s showing a little more maturity than others at a similar age, so I’d be inclined to enjoy over the next 5.
