Pizzini Verduzzo 2024

Share

I love that Pizzini has leaned into a more obscure Friulian variety here, and to great success. This is interesting and compelling from the outset, with lifted notes of spiced pear, quince jelly, white peach, woody spice, green almond and savoury lemon thyme. The palate has lovely weight and texture, with pear, fennel, almond paste, citrus preserves and peach before a finish that’s pulled into linearity by juicy acidity, while the bitter almond and preserved-citrus tones define the close. A food wine for sure, and one packed with interest.
