I really like that the sub-regions are listed on the bottle. Having spent time in Central Otago, I know how strikingly rugged and varied the terrain is. Shaped by glaciers, its altitudes, aspects and soil types vary enormously. This Lowburn Pinot is notably light in colour and tastes of wet terracotta, dried herbs, cranberry and strawberry. A distinctly mineral-driven nose, indeed. I’m down for it. It’s gentle in the mouth, with wirey tannins and flavours that closely follow the aromatics. Drink slightly cool with ricotta-stuffed peppers and herb oil.
