Robert Mondavi Private Selection Bourbon Barrel Chardonnay 2019

Share

Wines like this will be a relief to many chardonnay fans. It’s a throwback to the old days when chardonnays were oaky and packed full of tropical fruit flavours with the use of ex-Bourbon barrels for aging amping up that oaky flavour to the max.

Bright golden in colour, this is a rich and fruit forward style. It has decadent peachy, tinned pineapple fruit with quite well integrated toasted coconut oak. There is then good balance on the palate between buttery, nectarine fruit and vanilla milkshake oak with a refreshing crisp acid bite to finish. It’s a classic Californian style that is hard to put down.
