Tar, grilled meat, dusty leather and liquorice kick off a savoury opening before a filling-out of black cherry, violets, blood-orange peel and blood plum. While there are some darker savoury tones to the perfume, it’s overall quite lifted, with added interest thanks to the orange-citrus bite. The palate is fulsome and round, with a burst of blood orange, black cherry, plum, tar, crushed violets and liquorice filling the mouth before firm, silty tannins and firm acidity frame the solid length. Some bitter tones linger in the mouth perfume. There’s some heft here at 14.6%, though it’s been kept in good balance.
