The aromatics are turned up and it’s inviting to indulge in all those violets, bay leaves, pepper and spice. The aromatics lift the wine and blend in so well with its overall liveliness and freshness. Marananga fruit, off ancient rich red clay, ironstone gravels and sandy loam soils, has been at the heart of some of the Barossa Valley’s best-known wines. Deep purple-crimson hues. Fresh acidity enlivens the palate dense in plum, blueberry, earth, controlled warm toasty oak, leather, a mineral richness with spice and nicely trimmed in electric aromatics. Velvety smooth and fine textured through to the finish with tannins offering assured guidance.
