Schubert Estate The Lone Goose 2022

Shiraz fruit is grown in Marananga with the addition of Viognier. A deeply coloured wine with sultry cassis, staining mulberries and cooked rhubarb. There is a river of dark chocolate that envelopes the palate and some bright sparks of cherry and blood plum. Some char of sourdough with marmalade and long black coffee, the Viognier component acts as a lifted note amongst the loaded black berried fruit. Oak spice is quite toasty but suits the feel and shape of the wine, adding some oolong tea tannins and an edge of caraway seed. A bold wine with plenty of persistence and character. This will stand up to bold spice and garlic, go for Korean bbq meats. Drink now or cellar for 4-5 years further.
