50% Touriga, 25% Tinta Cao, 25% Tinta Amarela, each Individually fermented, prior to  maturation in seasoned French oak puncheons and foudres before blending. Portuguese varietals tend to do so well in the Australian climate and it’s little wonder why. The biggest question is why don’t we have more planted and why don’t we see greater use of these outside of the realm of fortified? While Touriga is perhaps a little more common to consumers now than it was five years ago, you’d be hard pressed to find an everyday punter familiar with Tinta Cao or Tinta Amarela. This wine is a perfect example for why these varieties should be household names in Oz. A nose that encourages you to get your dancing shoes on. Red jube, purple fruits, vibrant freshness, lifted red florals – think hibiscus, punchy red fruits and a hint of vanillin, savoury dried herb and parched earth character simmering underneath the punchbowl. The palate makes an impact with concentrated, healthy fruit: cassis, nutmeg, toasty oak notes wrapped around it all. Juicy, bold, fun and ferrous. Head back for seconds.
