Seppeltsfield The Northing Shiraz 2021

Share

A single vineyard wine from Seppeltsfield’s Northern Grounds ‘Katingi’ vineyard. Red sandy loam over red clay. What a pretty nose, and yes, that can be said for a Barossa Shiraz. Red fruits, cranberry and red pepper berry, geranium flower, lavender, liquorish strap and a light dusting of pencil shavings. Vibrant and effortless on the palate, there’s a weightlessness pinned down by structured lacy tannins and fine boned acidity rippling through until the final moment of pleasure and a lifted floral note, like brushing through a patch of wild violets in the dew. A lesson in the art of elegance and precision – not words traditionally aligned with Barossa Shiraz, but something to see more of in modern iterations of Barossa.
