Serafino Black Label Reserve Grenache 2020

Share

The rise of great Australian Grenache continues and Serafino have long been champions of the variety in McLaren Vale, the wines being generous and user-friendly in style. For anyone wanting to see what grenache is all about, a tasting of this Reserve bottling is the perfect introduction to the big and ripe styles with lashings of fruit. It is bursting with raspberry, potpourri, spice and dried strawberry aromas backed by a good splash of oak. Shy this wine is not. The palate is then dry, fleshy and full-bodied with great depth of flavour but also some of grenache’s prettier rose petal elements emerging in the glass. It then takes a more savoury turn with leather and spice to finish. While a little young right now, give this time to settle and enjoy the hedonistic side of this variety.
