Mt. Bera Amphitheatre Pinot Noir Zweigelt 2023

Share

Another Austrian red grape to call the Adelaide Hills home, Zweigelt is a cross between two fellow Austrians, St. Laurent and Blaufränkisch. In 2023, blended with Pinot Noir, Zweigelt has brought a lovely aromatic wine to our attention, medium bodied, fresh with a lively blend of both texture and flavour. Who knew Pinot and Zweigelt could get along so well? Well, the maker knows that both are plush in red berries, cherry, plum and raspberry notes and they are here in force with rosehip florals, anise and spice. The two, framed in fine tannins, work so well, so pretty and lasting. Finishes bright in acidity, firm in tannins and sinewy with some chewy cherry notes to close. What a delight.
