Here is an Australian Sangiovese that really works. It’s from Central Victoria which seems to suite the variety, showing loads of red fruits with a little raspberry dominance. It’s bright and lively with an earthy dry dusty character that makes it such a good food wine. A dry savoury finish is the key to its food compatibility.

Ray Jordan has been writing about wine for more than 40 years. In 2011 Ray was awarded WA Wine Press Club Jack Mann Memorial Medal for his contribution to the WA wine industry. His love of wine is as strong as his love of the blues and tasting the thousands of wines that cross his bench each year allows him to indulge in both.
