Shaw & Smith M3 Chardonnay 2019

One of the chardonnays that put Adelaide Hills on the map, the Shaw & Smith M3 Chardonnay still remains to this day a regional benchmark in a modern Australian style. In recent years, Shaw & Smith have also added their Single Vineyard Lenswood Chardonnay to the range which is a serious wine that is built to last and worth adding to any wine cellar – it is exceptional value for a wine of this quality.

The Shaw & Smith M3 has historically tended towards being at the finer and more elegant end of the Adelaide Hills spectrum and has helped to drive this style across the region. But the warm and dry 2019 vintage has had its impact with a riper, richer style, although still with plenty of trademark Shaw & Smith finesse.

The wine has powerful peach skin and citrus fruits with some floral touches and spicy oak. The palate is then dry and full-bodied with balanced acid and a creamy texture with fruits ranging from subtle tropical fruits through to gingernut, praline and vanilla. A tasty Adelaide Hills Chardonnay that will beautifully match up to Chinese roast Pork belly over the next five years.
