Sorby Adams Jazz Eden Valley Pinot Noir Rosé 2026

Unlike true jazz, this wine is unlikely to divide its audience. Unlike true jazz, this is extremely appealing. Unlike true jazz, it will not remind anyone of an angry cat scratching a chalkboard in the middle of peak hour traffic (yes, hurl the insults, but they will be the proverbial water off a duck’s back – a good friend, upon whom the divinities bestowed gazillions of dollars in their wisdom, recently installed a million-dollar sound system in his house. Guess what didn’t sound any better). I digress. Made from Eden Valley Pinot Noir, specifically from the Williamstown sub-region, this is a Rosé which should definitely be on your radar. The colour is that of a sky on fire. The nose is like a delicious berry compote. We have notes of raspberries, cherries and strawberries, with a touch of watermelon. Medium length, there is a clean dry finish. Flavour abounds from start to finish. Fresh with persistence and a clean, dry finish, this is a very attractive and well balanced Rosé, one which will impress for at least another couple of years. Love the wine. Now if only they can find a new name.

Ken was born and bred in Brisbane, Queensland. He had a non-trendy, perfectly happy childhood, in a family convinced alcohol meant instant condemnation to Hades. But a break fishing on the Great Barrier Reef, and some good wine, started a serious obsession that eventually took over. It did not stop Ken being chastised later for drinking Pol champagne, disgusted he’d drink anything made by a Cambodian dictator. Now, Ken mostly writes on wine, champagne and spirits for various newspapers, magazines and books, but is perhaps best known for his work in The Courier Mail. He also has a little sideline writing on cigars, fishing, travel and food. When not writing, fly-fishing for trout in NZ or bonefish on the flats of Cuba, travelling or smoking cigars, he is no doubt following a variety of sporting teams – the occasionally glorious Queensland Reds rugby, the dysfunctional Washington Redskins, the dodgy Arsenal and especially revels in the world restored to its proper axis with the return of the Ashes to their rightful home.
