This is a superb wine from what was an outstanding Barossa vintage. The Shiraz comes from the northern reaches of the Barossa and displays the region’s typically powerful concentration and intensity. These qualities are evident immediately on the nose before flowing into a sumptuous, dense and powerfully structured palate, all delivered with impressive finesse and refinement. Adams is not afraid to use oak, and this wine has spent 36 months in French oak, of which 30% was new. Clearly, the fruit power and weight have easily absorbed the extended maturation, producing a wine of tremendous structure and layered complexity. The balance is absolutely precise, contributing to its velvety palate feel and remarkable harmony.
