Detailed, savoury and built around terracotta tannins – this is the best wine I’ve had from Soumah. Dried strawberry, sour cherry, clove, cedar and plenty of oak spice. Interestingly, this Nebbiolo spends more than 100 days on skins post-ferment before three years in seasoned puncheons. Time really does wonders. In the mouth, Dried herbs, balsamic and spice. It’s intellectual, integrated and slightly austere. The tannins are ultra-fine and beautifully framing, carrying through a sustained and firm finish. It’s not an easy wine, but none of the complex ones are. Drink with finely shaved prosciutto.
