SOUMAH Savarro 2025

Share

Here we have 100% Savagnin fermented in stainless steel. The perfume is bright and fresh with green olive brine sitting above lemon pith and green apple to start. Some aeration and increased temperature see sweeter tones emerge in the form of kumquat and citrus blossom, along with more savoury notes of subtle chamomile tea and a glimmer of nuts. Overall an attractive aromatic profile, presented in a fresher guise than the wilder, more oxidative Jura style. The palate also opens with a salty, briny character and it’s all the better for it. Underneath are notes of lemon, tangy green apple skin and a shot of minerality giving shape. The finish is marked by a gorgeous line of brine and lemon-laced acidity that draws the wine to long, pithy length. The Savagnin identity is retained beautifully here, presented in a style more friendly to a broader audience. Nicely priced, too.
