Squitchy Lane Pinot Noir 2022

On pouring, I am immediately transported to a rose garden, surrounded by perfumed petals and subtly spicy/herbaceous leaves. Then the fruit kicks in – cranberries, strawberries and cherries, with the darker tang of blueberries, alongside enticing nutmeg and forest floor. With three years since harvest, this wine is already proving its ability to age gracefully, and the structured, but still fine-grained, tannins promise a lot more potential. Strawberries lead the way again in the mouth with redcurrant and red apples joining the fray. Time in the glass is rewarded with a plumping up of that beautiful fresh fruit, while the sweet baking spices gain a tobacco box and leather complexity.
