The unlikely friendship between feisty Sauvignon Blanc and laid-back Semillon is captured beautifully here. Upfront gooseberry, cut grass, lantana and a splash of passionfruit pulp with quieter notes of citrus bring the traditional Bordeaux white blend alive. The youthful vibrancy is well-weighted with an easy textural flow and discreet acid drive. Quince, lemon and a pear skin dryness are woven into the fabric of the wine. There’s good concentration, depth and – such is the balance – super food friendly properties. The Bordeaux white blend when it is on song is one of the more surprising, easy to please wines when it comes to food matching that you will ever come across.
