In Step By Step parlance, the 2019 shiraz is “the larrikin.” This is a little more relatable taste-wise. It’s a very open, approachable, no fuss South Australian shiraz. It’s also a generous 14.5% alcohol.
Great substance to this wine and a bit of charmer (as most larrikins tend to be). Plums, sweet berries, red and black cherry, spice, with a light sprinkling of dried flower-pot pourri. The florals are a real feature, lifting the wine and helping emphasise the fruit and aniseed and chocolate-flavoured rich palate.
This offers a fresh, energetic celebration of good shiraz fruit and hits above its price point.
