Taltarni Discovery Grenache Touriga 2022

This is a quirky little blend from Taltarni’s Discovery Range, created to allow the winemaker to play with some different, creative, experimental ideas.  Touriga Nacional is a variety revered as the key grape in premium Port (from Portugal) and it adds lovely violet florals and blackberry structured tannin to the pretty, juicy cherries and raspberries of the Grenache. Initially very pretty, with fruit-driven lifted spice, the wine gradually reveals deeper tones of liquorice and freshly grated nutmeg with a wisp of eucalypt. It’s beautifully savoury with the aforementioned tannins adding a pencil-shaving rasp on the lingering finish.
