Taltarni Dynamic Mourvèdre 2021

This grape is normally a blending component for southern Rhône style blends, or responsible for rich and bold reds from Central Spain (where it is known as Monastrell – also sometimes called Mataro in Australia). The fruit is destemmed and placed in small open fermenters with a mix of yeast techniques. The team use heading-down boards and pumpovers before pressing into French oak barriques. This example includes 12% Shiraz. A blood red hue, this offers a more lifted nose than often seen with this variety. Dark fruits, spices and leather here. Fresh and bright with quite vivid flavours. Very fine tannins and decent length too. A very good example of this variety, thoroughly enjoyable drinking and should continue to be so over the next five to six years.
