Taltarni Old Vine Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Share

Made with fruit off vines planted in the late 1960s, this wine shows off the warm and dry 2018 vintage with its beautiful purity of luscious fruits. It’s quite a bold style for the Pyrenees – rich blackberry and blackcurrant fruits with cabernet’s herbal side dialled way back into a gentle dusting of dried oregano. There is also some well balanced vanilla bean from extended time in French Oak. That is all followed by a full-bodied and fleshy palate, more commonly seen in some very well regarded South Australian regions, with quite supple fruit tannins although the oak does provide some structure to a lingering finish. The trademark Taltarni reserve is still there so this wine will no doubt please fans of the style.
