There’s an intriguing wildness here among the ripe, sweet fruit. Don’t you love it when there’s a hint of something wild in a Pinot that sends you off exploring? It’s in the earthiness, the briar and the undergrowth to be discovered in this wine sitting quietly amid the black cherry, plum, herbs and spice. A couple of swishes and it’s awakened. Toasty oak isn’t shy in making its presence felt, but this is a 14% alc. Pinot and considering the weight and body of the wine, it carries it well. Texture is assured and, again, is part of the more robust Central Otago Pinot style. As a four-year-old, it’s ready to go.
